SnapKnow is an independent project built on one belief: identifying the world around you should be instant, free, and require zero friction. No app to install, no account to create — just a photo and an answer. We started because every existing "identify this" tool is either behind a paywall, locked inside a native app, or requires you to scroll past twelve ads before you see the result. SnapKnow works in your browser, gives you the answer first, and keeps nothing.

How accurate is it?
SnapKnow uses a state-of-the-art vision model. It's very good at common species and objects — think of it as a knowledgeable friend, not a lab. For anything safety-critical (mushroom edibility, spider bites), always verify with an expert.
Do you store my photos?
No. Your image is sent to our identification engine, processed, and discarded. We don't save, sell, or train on your photos.
Is it really free?
Yes. The free tier is genuinely free with no hidden limits. Plus adds power-user features (history, batch upload, PDF export) for $5/mo when it launches.
What can't it identify?
It works best with clear, well-lit photos of a single subject. It struggles with blurry images, extreme close-ups with no context, handwriting, or abstract art. It may also confuse very similar species — hence the confidence level and alternatives.
